Are you one of those people that have piles and piles of clothes jumbled up in their closet? Well, there’s nothing to be ashamed of - most of us women have closets like that.
But there comes a time when functioning through such a closet becomes literally impossible. And you probably have to wear a helmet to survive when you’re opening up such a closet.
When that time comes, you have two choices, either you leave it be or you take a step forward on to getting your stuff organized.
I would choose the latter, you should too.
But hey, organizing a messy closet is not as easy it sounds and it’s probably one of the hardest things you have to do. And once you get to it, there will be tons of things you will find you haven’t seen in years.
However, there’s nothing to worry about. Considering I went through such a stage myself only a few months ago - I would like to tell you about the 7 tips I followed and would recommend them to you as well when you’re looking for ways to organize your closet.
When you’re starting to organize your closet, the first rule you must follow is that you must stick to your style. Why? Because it makes it easier to buy clothes when you’re staying true to your style.
So if you find something in your closet that you have been ignoring for a while. You must ask why haven’t you been wearing it frequently in the recent few months.
If it’s something that is not in line with your current style - it’s time to say goodbye to it. Your wardrobe should have clothes that fit with your style instead of just clothes being there.
The second rule of organizing your closet is to switch up as the season changes. Unless you’re one of those people that travel and will be needing clothes for different climate conditions.
Other than that, there is no point of having your white linens in your wardrobe during the cold winter of December. Always switch it up with every season - it’s the perfect opportunity to declutter and make the most of the space available to you.
When you’re organizing your closet, everything should be put in a way that it’s placed in their own category. Tops, Skirts, Dresses, Pants should each have section dedicated to them in your closet.
Some would even prefer to pair up outfits and place them separately, it’s a matter of personal choice. But what this does is - makes it easier to find everything and place it back once you’re done wearing them.
If you’re a working woman, it’s best if you keep your formal wear separate from the casual. It’s pretty simple, you can have on side of your closet dedicated to clothes that you’re going to be wearing to work and one side can be dedicated to casual clothings or some might even put it as the off duty look clothing.
People often think that hanging everything on the same type of hangers in their closet is the right thing to do.
Well, they’re wrong.
Coats and Jackets need individual hangers to support and restrict wrinkles. But different pants and skirts should be hung on hangers with a center hook so that the vertical space can be utilized and they can be hung from each other.
There’s popular way or organizing a close that people often use is that all of their clothes are hung in the same direction.
There’s nothing wrong with it but it does not look nice.
I would recommend that all of your clothes are hung facing you. Don’t get it? Well, the clothes on the left should be facing right and vice versa for the clothes on the other side.
If you’re often worried about the closet and have a problem getting all of your clothes organized. Well, you might not have enough space to fit everything you need.
If you have this problem, it’s time to get a standing wardrobe at least so that everything is visible and easily accessible to you. I mean, you have to visit every day, why not make it worth it.
There can be many ways to organize your closet - but to each their own. I have found that following these tips has worked for me and has helped me keep everything organized in my wardrobe.
